Learning from Leadership

“Learning from Leadership” is a 5-year, $3.5 million research project funded by the Wallace Foundation (New York) that will examine the effect of the school principal on student achievement.  The results of this study will describe the nature of successful leadership practices at the state, district and school levels. It will also identify how those practices shape instructional behaviors of teachers which ultimately lead to improved student learning. Dr. Kyla Wahlstrom (CAREI) is the primary investigator and will work with University of Minnesota colleagues Drs. Michael Michlin and Karen Seashore and with Drs. Kenneth Leithwood and Stephen Anderson at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto.
