About the Project

In 1998,  the National Science Foundation funded the University of Minnesota to conduct a research project on the State Systemic Initiatives program. The purpose of the project is to examine the relationships that exist among teachers, schools and student achievement. The project includes four states with different approaches and conditions. Researchers from the University of Minnesota work with researchers from the participating states to administer surveys, conduct observations and interviews, and collect student achievement data. The results will have implications for improving school based reform efforts to enhance student achievement in science and mathematics.
