Learning from Leadership
“Learning from Leadership” was a 5-year, $3.5 million research
project funded by the Wallace Foundation (New York) that examined the
effect of educational leadership on student achievement.
The results of this
study describe the nature of successful leadership practices at the
state, district and school levels. The study also identifies how those practices
shape instructional behaviors of teachers which ultimately lead to improved
student learning.
Drs. Kyla Wahlstrom and Karen Seashore Louis in the College of
Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota and Drs. Kenneth Leithwood
and Stephen Anderson at the
Ontario
Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) of the University
of Toronto led this study.
