Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS™) Training
The Assessment Training Center offers trainings for a wide variety of audiences, including teachers, administrators, directors, and regional staff. Below is an overview of each CLASS™ training with details on registration and links to more information.
In this overview session, CEED trainers describe the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS™) framework and highlight the importance of teacher-child interactions on child social emotional and academic outcomes.
This two-day in person training offered by certified CLASS™ trainers covers the instrument and provides opportunities to score video segments in preparation for the online reliability testing. This training is for Minnesota residents only. Read more.
Putting CLASS™ into Practice is a two-day session intended for those who work in early childhood professional development and are already trained as a CLASS™ observer. This training equips supervisors, coordinators, trainers, and consultants to work with teachers on CLASS™ concepts and practices. Registrations from outside of Minnesota are also welcome. Read more.
This four-clock-hour CLASS™ refresher training is designed to support those who are already reliable CLASS™ observers as they prepare for their annual reliability recertification test. The session includes reviewing the pre-K CLASS tool, practice coding with video, and sharing tips for recertification.
Out-of-state participants are welcome at this training.

This four-hour workshop is designed for coaches and others who are responsible for facilitating educators’ interaction skills as described in the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) tool. The session prepares coaches, consultants, supervisors and trainers to aid teachers in strengthening concept development, quality of feedback, and language modeling in interactions and activities. The session includes analyzing key characteristics of each dimension, identifying interaction opportunities, and practicing coaching strategies for supporting teacher growth in these key interaction qualities.
Instructional Support for Teachers is a four-hour session for preschool teachers and child care providers who may have an introductory knowledge of the CLASS™ tool and desire to look more closely at the Instructional Support dimensions. This workshop will prepare educators to implement the classroom interaction strategies of concept development, quality of feedback, and language modeling.
