Brighter Futures:
Public Deliberation About the Science of Early
Childhood Development
|
|
The
Science Museum of Minnesota (SMM),
in partnership with the
Center for Early Education and Development (CEED) at the
University of Minnesota, and
Public Agenda, a non
partisan civic engagement organization, seek funding for
Brighter Futures: Public Deliberation About the Science of Early
Childhood Development.
Through programs, an
exhibition, and research, this project will engage museum
visitors, policymakers, and caregivers in deliberations around
the latest, and often misunderstood, early childhood development
research. It will also build on an increased understanding of
the importance of early childhood development to expand civic
engagement around this urgent social issue. The project will
create dynamic links between current research on early childhood
development and the audiences of museum visitors, policymakers,
and caregivers to help them become more informed supporters of
our youngest citizens.
Dr. Karen Cadigan, CEED's
Director of Outreach and Public Policy is a co-Principal
Investigator on this three-year grant from the
National Science Foundation.
CEED's contribution to this
project will include:
-
providing up-to-date research
findings about early development for exhibit development and
visitor experiences,
-
assistance with exhibit
programming that targets policy makers, and
-
research on how the exhibit
and programming impact policy makers and others.
