Areas of Interest
Professional development of beginning science teachers through online learning and technology integration
Research Interests
My interdisciplinary research interests are situated within the learning technology domains of online learning and technology integration. The focus of my work is on pre-service education and beginning in-service professional development within the context of science teaching and learning.
More specifically, my research explores how online communities of practice can be used to provide content specific induction support for beginning science educators. I also investigate the pathways and barriers toward the development of pre-service teacher technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) within specific domains in science.
I am currently developing an online curriculum development tool called 3Ring that seeks to transform the beginning science educator lesson planning experience through an educative, cyber-enhanced instructional design environment.
