University of Minnesota Child Care
Center

The Child Care Center (UMCCC) is licensed by the state of
Minnesota. It cares for 140 children, ages 3 months to
pre-kindergarten, of University faculty, staff and students.
The program began in a converted warehouse on the West Bank in 1974,
but in 1992 moved into a new and expanded state-of-the art facility at
1600 Rollins Avenue S.E.
The Child Care Center has a lengthy waiting list. Most children enter
the program at the infant (3 - 16 months) or toddler (16 - 33 months) age.
The wait for care is usually at least a year and recently has been taking
16 months or longer.
