You’ve endured the cold and the humidity. Been awed by the autumn colors. Cheered for the Gophers, the Twins, the Vikings, and Lynx. Fact is, you don’t even mind the mosquitoes all that much. That’s right. You’re a Minnesotan through and through. So why not pass along your rich cultural heritage by becoming a teacher right here in Minnesota.

It’s as easy as enrolling in the Homegrown Teacher Partnership Project through the University of Minnesota’s College of Education and Human Development.

Culturally diverse teachers help meet the needs and strengthen the roots of an ever-growing multicultural Minnesota population.

Minnesota is becoming increasingly culturally diverse. And we need teachers to match. Teachers who can relate more fully to students of various ethnic backgrounds, be sensitive to their specific needs, be a role model, and bring a new dimension of teaching to a student body eager to learn. You could be just that person.

The Homegrown Teacher Partnership Project can put you on the path to a teaching career. You just have to take the first step.

The first step is enrolling in HTPP. Once done, you’ll have nothing but support, support, support. Including social and community interaction and career mentoring from both faculty and students. We’ll even help you get your first teaching job.

And that’s just the beginning.

You’ll also begin to explore the gamut of possibilities a teaching career has to offer, through connections with other students and information group meetings. All designed to get you on the path to a great teaching career.

Homegrown teachers require extra-special care.

We recognize that offering support and tending to your needs is what it takes to cultivate great homegrown teachers. That’s why we’ll do everything we can to help you smoothly transition into the teacher licensure program of your choice. You’ll have access to mentoring and tutoring opportunities, professional development workshops, and more. Just the kind of groundwork you’ll need to grow into a successful teacher.

Plant the seeds for a career as a teacher in Minnesota.
