The struggling economy and current state of affairs are taxing—on
individuals, families, businesses, and governments. The strained
economy has led, as you well know, to budget cuts at all levels,
especially here at the University. We are pleased to say that the
administrative licensure program is alive and well. As a matter
of fact, we are excited to announce that a new cohort, the Administration
of Community and Alternative Education Programs Licensure Cohort,
will begin this fall. We're also continuing to offer endorsement
in the areas of K-12 principal, superintendent, director of special
education, and director of community education. For details, go
to our homepage. And, for an update
on the program as well as advice for dealing with budget cuts, please
read Dr. Ann Werner's article in "From
the coordinator."
The war has divided people at several levels. This is a difficult
time for all of us as we worry about family, friends, loved ones,
the future. In times such as these, it can be difficult for
us as adults to understand why things are happening as they are;
and even more difficult for children. This issue of The Leader
includes a resource page with links to information about and advice
for talking to kids about war and terrorism.
Finally, regular features continue as we introduce you to licensure
student Sean Virnig on our spotlight page, highlight important dates
and information on the calendar and bulletin board pages, congratulate
students and faculty on the kudos page, and offer guest articles
regarding community education and technology. May you find the information
inspiring and useful. Happy reading!
