Saving a Microsoft Office document as a PDF file

These directions apply when using the full version of Adobe Acrobat, version 5.0 or higher, on a computer running the Windows operating system and working with files in the following programs:

  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft PowerPoint

Follow these steps to save documents created by any of these three programs into PDF format:

  1. Open your Word file/Excel file/Web page.
  2. Click on File > Print.
  3. You will see a printer name and next to it you will see an arrow pointing downwards. Click on the arrow and select PdfFactory.
  4. Press OK to print the document.
  5. A dialog box might appear. If so, click on the “save” button at the bottom.
  6. A box will appear that gives you options about the name of the file and the location in which you want the file to be placed. Make your choices and press “save”.
