New Department:
Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development

Effective July 1, 2009, a new department has been created that integrates the business and marketing education, human resource development and adult education, and comprehensive WHRE programs from the Department of Work and Human Resource Education (WHRE) into the department formerly known as Educational Policy and Administration (EdPA). The name of this new department is Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development (OLPD). It will offer exciting opportunities for collaboration and interdisciplinary education and research. Click here for details.

Below you’ll find links to most of the documents used in our program, as well as links to examples of exemplary work submitted by current and former students. Where possible, the documents are in Word or Excel format to allow you to complete them electronically.

Application

Your completed application should include a writing sample (see form for essay requirement specifics), transcripts, and a check for the program fee.

This document is intended to provide you with a general understanding of our processes as well as how you will progress as a student in the program.

Creating the portfolio [.pdf]
This document will guide you in the process of creating your licensing portfolio, the central component to our individually based licensing program.

Project reflections [.doc]
Reflection is a core component for the University of Minnesota’s licensure program. One or more reflections are required for each of the core courses. Required reading from courses may be used to fulfill the readings requirement within the reflection. Superb reflections go beyond required readings and explore other sources of literature as well. Student at the University of Minnesota have access to an excellent library system that may be used in person or online. In addition, the Resources link provides direct access to many state and national associations and their publications. The four frames of leadership incorporated in the reflection sheet format are from Bolman, L. G., & Deal, T. E. (2003). Reframing Organizations: Artistry, Choice, and Leadership Third Edition. San Francisco: Jossey-Bass. See APA Citation Style for a brief description of APA citation formats for various publications.

Pre-assessment and Plan of Action templates
This form, which is completed in EDPA 5385 Licensure Seminar, is a Minnesota Board of School Administrators' requirement as stated in M.R. 3512 and a requirement of the University of Minnesota. A Pre-assessment and Plan of Action must be completed for each license sought. Submit both your completed form and the licensure course matrix [.doc] to the director of Licensure and Leadership Development for Educational Administrators, 330 Wulling Hall.

Culminating requirements report [.pdf]
This form summarizes your professional and academic experiences. We submit it to the Minnesota Department of Education once you complete the program. It is to be completed at the END of your program.

Pre-panel checklist [.pdf]
This form helps you to prepare for the completion of your file, materials from which we must send to the Minnesota Department of Education as part of our endorsement of you.

Each form below contains a complete list of the competencies for a particular area of licensure. The language and structure of these documents correlate to the Minnesota Department of Education's competencies identified in MS 3512. You must complete the evaluation form prior to appearing before your review panel.
