Coursework for M.A. statistics concentration

It is assumed that M.A. students will generally begin their studies in the fall semester and follow the sequence of courses below.

Semester 1 (10 credits)

  • EPSY 5221—Principles of Educational and Psychological Measurement (4 cr)
  • EPSY 5247—Qualitative Methods in Educational Research (3 cr.)
  • EPSY 8261—Statistical Methods I: Probability and Inference (3 cr)+

Semester 2 (9 credits)

  • EPSY 5243—Principles and Methods of Evaluation (3 cr.)
  • EPSY 8262—Statistical Methods II: Regression and the General Linear Model (3 cr.)
  • Psy  5014—Psychology of Human Learning and Memory (3 cr.)++*

Semester 3 (9 credits)

  • EPSY 5244—Survey Design, Sampling, and Implementation (3 cr.)
  • EPSY 5991—Independent Study in Educational Psychology (3 cr.) for Internship
  • EPSY 8264—Advanced Multiple Regression Analysis (3 cr)

Semester 4 (6 -13 credits)

  • Psy 5202—Attitudes and Social Behavior (3 cr.)++*
  • EPSY 8777 Thesis Credits: Master's (10 cr.) for Plan A
    OR
    EPSY5991 Independent Study or EPSY8994 Research Problems (3 cr.) for Plan B

Total credits 34 - 41

+ Students must have had an introductory statistics course prior to registering for EPSY 8261
