Applied psychology in educational and community settings (APECS)
undergraduate minor
- Enrich your major degree through an applied emphasis
in working with learners across the lifespan (children, youth,
and adults).
- Boost your future career with research and/or
community service.
Students who complete the APECS minor graduate with elevated
knowledge, skill level, and actual experience working with children
and youth in a variety of settings. Students become familiarized
with the field of educational psychology, acquire domain-specific
knowledge and skills relating to research and/or service delivery
within educational and community contexts, and apply their knowledge
and skills through a practicum experience.
This 18-credit minor will allow you to apply psychological theory
(systems-ecological, developmental, behavioral,
cognitive-behavioral) to actual interpersonal, social, cultural,
institutional, or economic contexts.
This minor is a good choice for students who wish to pursue
future graduate education in educational
psychology, social work,
counseling,
college student personnel,
youth development,
teaching, or other related fields.
