Certificates

Educational Psychology offers certificate programs in applied behavior analysis, autism spectrum disorder, and talent development and gifted education.

Applied Behavior Analysis

The certificate program in applied behavior analysis (ABA) is designed to prepare teachers and related service personnel to design and deliver services to pre-school children and youth with developmental and acquired disabilities. This 12-credit program provides specialized training in methods of behavioral assessment, intervention, and treatment evaluation. Coursework will also address ethical issues regarding treatment delivery, and the need for supervision by qualified professionals. This population may be diagnosed with autism, emotional/behavioral disorders, and traumatic brain injuries.

Autism Spectrum Disorder

The certificate program in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is designed to prepare teachers and related service personnel to design and deliver services to children and youth with ASD and their families. This 14-credit program offers specialized training in methods of assessment, intervention, and treatment evaluation. Admission is open to graduate and undergraduate students. ASD is a developmental disorder of neurobiological origin that can affect intellectual functioning, social abilities, and language and communication skills.

Talent Development and Gifted Education

The certificate in talent development and gifted education is a 12 credit certificate program intended to give teachers, administrators, education professionals, and other individuals with an interest in the education of gifted and talented students the opportunity to obtain the knowledge and skills necessary to develop, implement, and supervise programs in the education of gifted and talented students.
