Computer facilities available in educational psychology
Students have access to outstanding computer facilities across multiple platforms. The department has several computers available for student use and the College of Education and Human Developments supports two PC-based computing laboratories for instructional purposes. The labs are equipped with state of the art hardware, including 34 Dell computers with, zip drives, LAN internet connection, and a Proxima projector. The computer labs maintain various kinds of software, including data analysis software appropriate for performing quantitative and qualitative analyses. Software available to students in the lab includes Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SPSS 11, SAS 8, QSR NVIVO, HLM (student version), Netscape, and Internet explorer. Technical support in the lab is provided for several classes.
Private laptops can also connect to the network via the U wireless network. Wi-fi blankets the 3rd floor of Burton Hall and numerous places on campus.
The University provides access to multiple mainframes including supercomputer applications, and additional research labs support other computer platforms (e.g., Macintosh, SUN).
The University has exceptional library facilities with an online search facility that accesses the University's collection as well as those of a number of other collaborating institutions, including schools in the Big Ten.
