Mission

The Wayne Caron Family Caregiving Center is dedicated to improving dementia care by supporting family centered care.

Discussion

Our charge is clear. In the coming decades we will see dramatic increases in the prevalence of all chronic conditions, led by the dramatic increase in dementing illnesses. We are entering a time when virtually all families will be caregiving families. We are ill prepared for the dramatic societal interruption that will come when caregiving becomes a normative event in family life.

Our Future

Our activities at WCFCC aim to help prepare for the future of dementia care. Increasing our understanding of family center care will help guide efforts to keep family relations strong. Finding innovative pathways to serve families will lead to new approaches to intervention. Discovering new knowledge through continued engagement in research will support the innovative process. Sharing the knowledge we learn through teaching and training will help prepare the next generation to deal with the new realities of family life - a life increasingly centered on providing care and support for members will illness and disability.
