  • Learn about what it takes to get into Graduate School from graduate students from a variety of graduate disciplines
• Marcy Open School
  Come with us to this local elementary school.  We will be making holiday cards with 140 students to give to the Children's Hospital.

  What: Volunteering at Kaleidoscope
  When: Monday, May 4 1:45-5pm
  Where: Kaleidoscope in Minneapolis
  Details: We will be leading fun activities for underprivileged children at an elementary school on their day off of school!! Please email cpso@umn.edu if you would like to join in!

  What: Relay for Life
  When: Friday, April 17, 2009 6pm-6am
  Where: U of MN Fieldhouse
  Details: Fundraiser and cancer awareness event campus-wide.
• April 1, 2009
  What: What to do with a degree in Child Psychology
  When: Wednesday, April 1, 2009 4-6pm
  Where: ICD room 172
  Details: Learn about options after graduation, speakers included: Child family life, music therapy and public health (Child and maternal health program).
• February 2, 2009
  What: Volunteering at Mary's Place
  When: Monday, February 2, 2009 4-6pm
  Where: Mary's Place
  Details: There will be a 2 hour shift 4-6 p.m. in which volunteers will be asked to interact and entertain the children that will be there. This is a great opportunity to get involved with your community and explore what life is really like for some of the children living in the area.

  What: Child Psych Study Date!!
  When: Thursday, December 11, from 1-3
  Where: Peik 275, Peer Advising Office
  Details: Finals are coming up and the stress is on!! Come join us for a Child Psych study date. Everyone in Child Psych classes are invited to come study, some classes represented will be Research Methods, Social and Personality Development, Children Youth and Society, Cognitive Psych and Intro to Child Psych. Beverages will be provided, along with bake sale goods for purchase!!

  Where: ICD Office
  Details: Yep, it's that time of the year again! We will be having baked goods for sale in ICD for those 'sweet tooths.' Drop by and grab a treat!

  What: Volunteering at Sharing and Caring Hands
  When: Monday, November 17, 2008 from 4-8 p.m.
  Where: Sharing and Caring Hands: 525 North 7th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55405
  Details: The date is tentative at the moment so stayed tuned for updates!! There will be 2 hour shifts 4-6 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. in which volunteers will be asked to interact and entertain the children that will be there. This is a great opportunity to get involved with your community and explore what life is really like for some of the children living in the area. If interested, please contact cpso@umn.edu for space is limited!

  What: CPSO 'Get Together'
  When: Tuesday, October 21 from 5:00-7:00
  Where: ICD in the great room at the top of the stairs
  Details: CPSO hasn't had a formal "meet-n-greet" yet this year and is inviting everyone to come for an information session including, majoring/minoring in Child Psych, Research Opportunities, and information regarding the club. Pizza and refreshments will be provided!!!

  What: Appreciation Event for Chuck Oberg
  When: Monday, December 10th 5:30-7:00pm
  Where: Peik Hall, Room 275
  Details: If you have taken Children, Youth and Society you have had the opportunity to get to know Chuck Oberg. On behalf of the students, CPSO will be hosting an appreciation event for Chuck. Please join us for an evening full of thanks. FREE PIZZA!

  What: Information Session: Learn How to Prepare for Graduate/Medical School, the GRE, and the MCAT
  When: Thursday, November 29th 5:30-7:00pm
  Where: Institute of Child Development, Room 172
  Details: Have you ever considered graduate or medical school? If so, this information session will help you learn how you can make yourself a better candidate for Graduate and Medical programs. FREE PIZZA!

  What: "Meet and Greet" with Steve Yussen and Research Lab Representatives.
  When: Wednesday, November 7th: 5:00pm-6:30pm
  Where: Main floor of Institute of Child Development
  Details: Come meet Steve Yussen, as the new Director of Undergrad Studies in the Department, and also meet representatives from the various areas of research in child development. Come and learn about current and future opportunities to gain valuable research experiences. FREE PIZZA PROVIDED!

  What: Bake Sale
  When: Monday, October 29th to Wednesday, October 31st
  Where: By the main office in Institute of Child Development
  Details: Help CPSO raise money for future events, by buying baked goods.
• October 16th
  What: Feed My Starving Children
  When: Tuesday, October 16th: 8:00-9:30pm (we will leave campus at 7:30pm and will return around 10pm)
  Where: Feed My Starving Children- Brooklyn Park
  Details: Feed My Starving Children is an organization that provides dried food to children and their families in 45 countries (including the U.S.) around the world. As a volunteer you will help pack nutritious meals made up of rice, soy, vitamins and dehydrated vegetables. 18,000 children die of starvation every day- please help us decrease this number by joining us at Feed My Starving Children. If you are on our email list you will receive detailed directions about signing up with us to volunteer. If you are not on our email list (or are not sure) please email us at cpso@umn.edu.   What: Graduate and Professional School Day
  When: Wednesday, October 10th: 10:00am-2:00pm
  Where: Coffman Memorial Union- Great Hall
  Details: Graduate and Professional School Day is a great way to connect with a large number of graduate schools without leaving campus! About 100 graduate/professional programs and 900 students participate. Take advantage of this opportunity to explore grad school options.   What: Community Involvement Fair
  When: Wednesday, October 3rd: 10:30am-3:00pm
  Where: Coffman Memorial Union- Great Hall
  Details: What to make a difference in the community? Stop by this free event to learn about volunteering and internship opportunities in the Twin Cities. Talk to representatives from more than 80 organizations working on various issues including: Family Services, Family Violence, Youth Education, Mentoring and Tutoring.   What: Paint the Bridge
  When: Wednesday, September 12th: 4:30-5:30pm
  Where: Washington Ave. Bridge
  Details: Join us to help decorate the Washington Ave walking bridge for the 2007-2008 school year! CPSO officers will be painting two panels on the bridge and would love helping hands and creative minds to assist us with our design! Please feel free to stop by to ask any questions about CPSO, its officers, members and upcoming events!
