CEHD Partners with CARE on Girls’ Education Project

The College of Human Development and its Department of Organization, Leadership, and Policy Development have partnered with CARE International to improve girls’ education efforts around the world. The CARE Research Partnership, led by Assistant Professor Joan DeJaeghere is aimed at developing research methods to measure impact of girls’ education and empowerment efforts in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Ghana, Honduras, India, Mali, Malawi, and Tanzania. Students interested in international development work may enroll in EDPA 8087, a seminar linked to the project.

CEHD Partners with DAI and College of Veterinary Medicine on RESPOND Grant

Organization, Leadership, and Policy Development Professor David Chapman will lead a team of faculty and staff from the College in Monitoring and Evaluation efforts for a multi-million dollar USAID project investigating solutions to preventing infectious diseases around the world. The project spans three continents and is a partnership between multiple units at the University of Minnesota (led by the College of Veterinary Medicine), Tufts University, and Development Alternatives Incorporated.

CEHD Courses Taught as Part of Master in Development Program

A new Master degree program at the University of Minnesota will feature CEHD courses as part of its required and elective courses. The new Master in Development Program (MDP) program is jointly administered by the Humphrey Institute and Interdisciplinary Center for the Study of Global Change (ICGC) and spans several academic units across the University of Minnesota. The degree provides training in policy analysis and management; health and education; natural sciences; social sciences, and interdisciplinary research methods. An international field experience and capstone workshop in development practice also are required.
