M.A. in Sport Management
The Master of Arts in Sport Management provides academic excellence by combining theoretical instruction and practical experience to prepare tomorrow’s leaders for success in the sports industry and marketplace. Students develop the tools of research and learn core concepts through an interdisciplinary curriculum with an emphasis on cultivating new ideas and improving operations in the sport industry.
Students in our M.A. program will have the opportunity to study and network with a select group of scholars and peers in the School of Kinesiology:
- The Sport Marketing Research Group conducts and disseminates marketing research for both the public and private sectors of sport. Research studies focus on the behaviors of sport consumers, brand management of sport organizations, and the psychological and sociological principles associated with marketing strategies.
- The Sport Business Institute, provides clients in the sport industry with business consulting and research services overseen by Kinesiology sport management faculty. Sport management students learn to apply current sport management theory and practices and to conduct research in the context of real-world experiences.

Degree requirements
The M.A. in Sport Management is a 36-credit degree offered under Plan A and Plan B

- 16 credits of core course requirements
- 6 credits of research core

- 10 thesis credits
Plan B
- 16 credits of core course requirements
- 6 credits of research core
- 10 elective credits
- 4 project credits
A 3.00 minimum GPA is required to maintain good standing and to graduate.
