Sheryl Lazarus

Sheryl Lazarus, Ph.D., a research associate at NCEO, has expertise in large-scale assessments, school accountability, educational policy analysis, research design, data-driven decision-making, and the economics of education. Her work at NCEO currently focuses on alternate assessment based on modified academic achievement standards and issues concerning the “gap.”  She has conducted research on: (1) The inclusion of students with disabilities in large-scale assessments and accountability systems; (2) The effect of teacher training and knowledge on student performance on large-scale assessments; and (3) State accommodation and participation policies for students with disabilities. She has published extensively, including papers in peer-reviewed journals in both the fields of education and economics.
