Admission requirements to this program include the following criteria:

All application materials should be submitted directly to the ApplyYourself admissions system. We cannot review your application until all of the required materials listed below are submitted successfully. GRE scores are NOT required for M.Ed. applications.

Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Applicants are typically notified of admission decisions via email by Graduate Admissions four to six weeks after a complete application has been submitted.

Unofficial Transcripts Unofficial transcripts or academic records should be uploaded directly to the online application. Please do not mail in paper copies of your transcripts, there is no need for official transcripts or academic records for initial review.

If you are admitted, the University will then request official copies of this material.

Application Statements #1 & #2 Complete statements #1 & #2. Filling out statement #3 is optional. Statement #1 is for describing your career goals and rationale for interest in the M.Ed. program (limit of two pages).
Resume or CV Upload in "Program Supplementary Information" section
Letters of Recommendation Two letters of recommendation required. Acceptable recommendations will come from current or former professors who can assess your potential for graduate work. Other recommenders, such as employers, are also acceptable.

Note: Paper copies are not accepted - upload via the ApplyYourself online application using the "Recommendation Section" or under the "Program Supplementary Information" section as "upload 2".

Nonnative English Speakers and/or International Students

The TOEFL, MELAB, or IELTS is generally required of all applicants whose first language is not English, regardless of U.S. Citizenship status.

Applicants who have completed 24 quarter credits or 16 semester credits (within the past 24 months) in residence as a full-time student at a recognized institution of higher learning in the United States (or other English-speaking country) before entering the University of Minnesota may be exempted from this requirement.
