Overview

The doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) program in the Human Resource Development (HRD) track is among the very top HRD Ph.D. programs at major research universities anywhere in the world. Faculty in the program are experienced researchers who conduct various types of research studies on HRD-related topics. The faculty also provide leadership in the field's leading professional organizations, and are active consultants working with leading public- and private-sector organizations.

Purpose

This Ph.D. program is designed for students who are interested in HRD research and leadership. Students in the program will learn how to develop well-designed research studies and to apply their research knowledge at different levels of organizations, including countries and public-and private-sector international and local organizations.

Ph.D. curriculum details

This Ph.D. program requires 48 course credits and 24 thesis credits including coursework in foundations of human resource development and in adult education. Students in the program are also required to take coursework in research methods.

Attending full time, students may complete the degree requirements in three to five calendar years. Many students are employed and spread their coursework over more time. All degree requirements must be completed within eight years after starting the program.
