Qualitative methods

My areas of scholarly interest are opportunity and equity. I have two foci: how might we increase educational opportunities for those most at-risk in society, and how might we increase equitable outcomes for marginalized students. Much of my work focuses on low-income students and issues of access and equity in higher and postsecondary education. This scholarship highlights the ways in which social, cultural, and political structures constrain and enable educational equity and opportunity. My work serves as a methodological example of how to employ innovative qualitative research techniques to improve social policy.
