Marta Shaw is an associate professor of Public Affairs at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow - the oldest highest-ranking higher education institution in Poland. Her research agenda is focused on the impact of globalization on higher education in the areas of governance, research integrity, and intercultural education. In her time at the University of Minnesota, she was the primary research assistant for Professor Melissa Anderson in conducting a national, NIH-funded study of integrity in international research collaborations. She also collaborated with Professor David Chapman on a study of changes to the academic profession in Ukraine, and with colleagues in the Department of Postsecondary Teaching and Learning on a study of intercultural competence development. She was selected as a fellow with the Jandris Center and with Transparency International, where she assisted in editing the Global Corruption Report on Education. In her time at the University, she played a leadership role in the MasterCard research program and served on the Graduate Review and Improvement Team, designing a student-centered evaluation of graduate programs at the University.
Dr. Shaw currently teaches courses on educational leadership, intercultural management in the public sector, and research design. She serves as an expert in a national project to re-design the training of public school principals and co-facilitates the largest leadership conference in the country.
