Professional Development for Educators

The College of Education and Human development is committed to providing support to educators through professional development. Quality learning experiences that improve and/or enhance one’s knowledge-base and skills is an essential need in education. The Preparation to Practice Group is charged to provide a comprehensive model of professional development to support individual life-long learning and school improvement options that lead to increased student achievement.

Through extensive research marketing on school needs which includes interviews, focus groups, surveys and evaluations PPG helps CEHD to create and organize professional development experiences. These experiences provide a range of options such as courses, workshops, seminars, forums. PPG works with schools to customize options so that the experiences are contextualized in the goals of the school/district.

Individual educators may chose from among a wide variety of courses, certificates, additional licenses for credit or non-credit workshops options. Schools/district may work with PPG to customize a professional development model program for on-site cohorts. More information on this type of collaborative professional development planning may be found under partnerships.
