PsTL’s Certificate focuses on engaging practitioners in the effort to increase student achievement and success, particularly for those of diverse backgrounds. Based on current research in educational theory and practice, we focus on campus climate, classroom culture, and instructional practices.
Program Benefits

- Expand the number of students who are academically prepared for the level, intensity, expectations, and culture of higher education
- Narrow the academic disparities between students who are more privileged and those who are underrepresented in higher education
- Champion effective contemporary multicultural learning environments

- Encourage advanced research on curriculum and instruction
Program details and features
- The Post-baccalaureate Certificate in Innovations in Undergraduate Multicultural Teaching and Learning can be completed in 9, 12, or 18 months.
- The program is comprised of 15 credits including 3 core courses and 2 electives.
- A supervised practicum is required in the core course work. Students may choose to complete the practicum at the University of Minnesota, at a MnSCU institution, or another institution with approval from the Director of Graduate Studies.
Certificate students can choose to continue their engagement with these transformative academic strategies by entering the master’s program in multicultural teaching and learning.
