Inuit children in Pelly Bay, Nunavut, Canada Two children with sled dog

During the delivery of the adventure learning program Arctic Transect 2004, assistant professor Aaron Doering and expedition members stop to visit the Inuit community of Pelly Bay, Nunavut, Canada. As they arrived by dogsled, hundreds of schoolchildren come “down to the ice” to welcome them to their community. The schoolchildren had followed along with the education program on the Internet. As Team Arctic Transect 2004 was planning to leave Igloolik, Nunavut, Canada, hundreds of people from the community came to say goodbye. In this photo, two Inuit girls say goodbye to polar husky, Disko, and smile for the camera.
