The Minnesota Center for Reading Research (MCRR) in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Minnesota invites researchers, policy makers, and practitioners to engage in a working meeting on the Achievement Gap.

This is not a typical conference. We have structured three short and provocative keynotes throughout the day by national “thought leaders.” Each presentation will be followed by a brief panel interaction, and then participants will work at tables to contribute to the dialogue. We ask you to bring your strategies and experiences and be ready to share ideas. The day will be organized into three sessions – Social Contexts, Families and Communities, and Organizational Structures – that feature a researcher, policy maker, and educational practitioner deeply involved in the issue.

This will be a time to generate ideas, contribute to an exchange of propositions, and create something to share. One goal of this conference is to produce a publication to collect the synergy of the group as a resource to develop and share. We look forward to a productive, engaged conference and we hope you will join us.
