Current Research

Exploring Quality of Cancer Care and Quality of Life among Elderly Asian American Immigrants and Refugees: This study will assess quality of cancer care and quality of life among elderly Asian American cancer survivors.

Vital Involvement to Help End Cancer Disparities: Life Strengths in Coping with Cancer in Minnesota’s Asian American Immigrant Community: This study will explore the life strengths involved in coping with cancer among cancer patients in white and Korean and Hmong Americans. It aims to develop culturally appropriate and strengths-based cancer intervention models to maximize quality and duration of healthy and vital life and to eliminate cancer health disparities among Minnesota’s diverse Asian immigrant and ethnic populations.

Cultural Understanding of Elder Mistreatment to Develop a Prevention Program for Underserved Minority Elders: This study investigates cultural meaning of elder abuse and neglect among elderly Korean immigrants. It aims to develop culturally competent elder mistreatment prevention programs.

Developing Modules on Health Literacy and Cultural Competency in Older Adults: This study aims to develop modules on health literacy and cultural competency in older adults for health professionals.
