New Department of
Organizational Leadership,
Policy and Development
Effective July 1, 2009, a new
department has been created that
integrates the business and
marketing education, human
resource development and adult
education, and comprehensive
WHRE programs from the
Department of
Work and Human Resource
Education (WHRE) into the
department formerly known as
Educational Policy and
Administration (EdPA). The
name of this new department is
Organizational Leadership,
Policy and Development (OLPD).
It will offer exciting
opportunities for collaboration
and interdisciplinary education

Comprehensive Work and Human Resource Education (WHRE)

The comprehensive work and human resource education
specialization is an individualized program that is used by
students whose professional roles are enhanced by completion of
coursework selected from
adult education;
agricultural, food, and
environmental education;
business and industry education; and
human resource development. This field of study attracts
teachers, coordinators, supervisors, trainers, youth workers,
community-based educators, extension educators, and others. It
is part of a program that is ranked fourth in the nation (U.S.
News and World Report).Students combine study and
related experiences to develop, apply, analyze, synthesize, and
evaluate the practices and problems of education within these
contexts; to asses the social, technological, cultural, and
psychological issues of this field; and to contribute to the
research in the field. The degree work is designed by the
student and his or her adviser.
Coursework is selected from among the following departmental
designators:
Graduate Degrees
Master of education (M.Ed./professional development)
Master of arts (M.A.)
Doctoral degrees (Ph.D.
or Ed.D.)
