Degrees Granted

1,407 degrees granted during 2009-10 (577 B.S., 483 M.Ed., 347 masters and advanced graduate degrees). In addition, 557 students completed post baccalaureate teacher licensure (322 initial licensure, 235 additional licensure).

Diversity

The college is racially and globally diverse: 43.7% of the new freshmen are students of color and more than 200 international students come from 60 different countries.

Research

The college is ranked 3rd nationally in research among all public colleges of education, with 260 professionals directly involved in research. In 2010-11, the college was awarded $32.7 million for sponsored projects, a 22% increase over 2008-09.

Recent endeavors include a new center focusing on STEM education (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), is embarking on a significant re-envisioning of teacher education (TERI), and is taking part in a University-wide effort that will implement a USAID grant of up to $185 million with the goal to pre-empt or combat diseases spread between animals and humans.
