Alumni Society support for students

Scholarships

Three scholarships are awarded by the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) Alumni Society: the Advanced Study Student Scholarship, the Promise of Tomorrow Scholarship, and the Larry Wilson Scholarship.

Deadline for applications and nominations is January 30, 2009.

Alumni-Student Mentor Program – A perfect match

Twenty-eight CEHD undergraduate students in kinesiology, family social science, and human resource development were matched with professionals in their fields of study as part of the 2006-07 Mentor Connection program. From November until mid-April 2007, the students will meet with their mentors to learn about their chosen careers. Students will find out about networking, job interviewing, resume writing, what it takes to be a professional, and get other helpful advice. Mentors will host the students at their job site and introduce them to other professionals.

The Mentor Program is jointly sponsored by the University of Minnesota Alumni Association, the college’s Alumni Society and Alumni Relations Office, and the college’s career services office. To find out how you can volunteer to be a mentor for the 2008-09 academic year, contact Heather Peña at 612-626-8782 or hpena@umn.edu.
