Harris Forum Visiting Scholar Program
As part of the Harris Visiting Scholar Program, we invite a key figure in the field of child development to address the public on a topic of relevance to parents of young children and professionals working with young children and their families. The program is recognized for bringing highly regarded national figures in the infant-toddler field to Minnesota to share their latest research, practice, and policy work.

Brenda Jones Harden, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Institute for Child Study, University of Maryland College Park. Dr. Harden has worked over 30 years in the early childhood and child welfare policy, practice, and research arenas. Her research examines the developmental and mental health needs of young children at environmental risk, and the risk and protective factors that influence their outcomes. A particular focus is preventing maladaptive outcomes in these populations through early childhood intervention programs, such as early care and education, home visiting services, and infant mental health interventions.
