Bridging Education and Mental Health Training
The Bridging Education and Mental Health training covers the topics of functional behavioral assessment and relationship-based teaching models to determine what causes and sustains maladaptive behavioral patterns in young children.
The training is intended for an audience of early childhood professionals in education, health care, social services, and mental health.
Learning Objectives
- Understand the theoretical underpinnings and best practices from both behavioral and psychodynamic/attachment perspectives that set the stage for an expanded approach to challenging behaviors in young children
- Learn strategies for developing positive relationships with children and families as the cornerstone of good practice
- Explore procedures for designing environments and experiences that enhance children's development and positive interactions
- Create processes for determining why children engage in challenging behavior
- Generate intervention strategies based on why children are engaged in challenging behavior
