Learning Modules

The two learning modules below introduce early childhood educators to the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) and how the concepts measured by the CLASS are applicable to current quality initiatives within Minnesota. Each module is interactive and reflective using video and audio to engage the learner in understanding CLASS concepts in Minnesota's quality initiatives.

"Now What Exactly is CLASS?"
(earn 1 clock hour)

This module is an introductory overview to the Classroom Assessment Scoring System. Participants will gain an understanding of the areas and dimensions captured by the PreK CLASS, why the CLASS is used in Minnesota's Quality Improvement efforts, and the CLASS observation process. Choose between two viewing options.

Viewing Options:
  1. View the learning module to earn 1 professional development clock hour. Fee: $15. Must complete online pre-test and post-test. Certificate issued upon completion.
    Pay online and proceed to the module.

  2. View the learning module (no fee, no certificate).

Learning Opportunities During Book Reading
(earn 1 clock hour)

This module focuses on using the Classroom Assessment Scoring System to identify interactions which help expand children's learning during book reading activities and strategies to promote those interactions.

Viewing Options:
  1. View the learning module to earn 1 professional development clock hour. Fee: $15. Must complete online pre-test and post-test. Certificate issued upon completion.
