Child Development in Child Welfare
CEED is partnering with the Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare (CASCW) to produce online training modules, publications and public events that explore the application of relevant child development theory and research to professional development and services within the child welfare system.
The mission of CASCW is to improve the well-being of children and families who are involved in the child welfare system by:
- Educating human service professionals
- Fostering collaboration across systems and disciplines
- Informing policy makers and the public
- Expanding the child welfare knowledge base
The following collaborative activities between CEED and CASCW have been or are being undertaken:
- Writing and development of three online self-study learning modules. These are available for viewing on the CASCW website, along with many other CASCW self-study learning modules.
- Collaboration on the Winter 2012 issue of CW360°, Using a Developmental Approach in Child Welfare Practice. CW360° is an annual CASCW publication that provides communities, child welfare professionals, and other human service professionals, comprehensive information with the latest research, policies and practices in a key area affecting child well-being today.
- Co-sponsorship of the 2011 Minnesota Round Table on Early Childhood Education & Development. The full 2011 Round Table is available for viewing on the CEED website.
- Co-authorship of an issue of the CEED Early Report newsletter
- Co-sponsorship of the 2012 McEvoy Lecture
