Early Care and Education Choices
Quality and Continuity for Low-Income Families--A Maryland-Minnesota Partnership
This project is a three-year, federally funded child care research partnership to conduct policy-relevant research on early care and education issues. This project builds on the Minnesota Child Care Choices Project, which investigates parental decision-making in low-income families using administrative data provided by the Minnesota Department of Human Services and survey data collected from parents. The dual state partnership will conduct three related studies:
- Examining longitudinal patterns of parental decision-making about child care
- Determining the extent to which other aspects of quality not typically part of the definition of quality are a factor in parental decision-making (family-sensitive caregiving, developmentally appropriate instructional practices, and supports for socioemotional development)
- Examining the stability and continuity of care over time
