CEED at UROC
The Urban Research and Outreach/Engagement Center (UROC) in North Minneapolis links the University of Minnesota in vital public partnership with urban communities to advance learning, improve quality of life, and discover breakthrough solutions to critical problems. UROC builds thriving, innovative, and respectful collaborations for a healthy and vibrant North Minneapolis, creates new models of urban and community development, and strengthens the University of Minnesota as a vitally engaged 21st-century university serving the public good. CEED is pleased to have UROC as home for some of our staff and projects.
The mission of CEED at UROC is to conduct community-engaged research, teaching, and outreach that supports families and urban communities in raising happy, healthy, and successful children.

CEED Projects at UROC
Center for Response to Intervention in Early Childhood
(CRtIEC)
The mission of CRtIEC is to reduce the number of children
with reading problems by increasing the number of children
entering school with knowledge and skill in early literacy
and language.
Creating Scientific
Infrastructure for Promise Neighborhoods
This project is working to create the infrastructure to
begin research on comprehensive preventive interventions in
the nation’s highest poverty neighborhoods.
Early
Learning Labs | myIGDIs
Early Learning Labs provides assessments and services to
help parents and early child-care providers develop
"kindergarten-ready" children. myIGDIs is a
dedicated data manager that allows monitoring of children's
growth and development.
Family Academy: Infants
and Toddlers
Family Academy is a parent education and empowerment program
for families with children aged 0-3. Its purpose is to start
early by empowering parents to get their kids ready for
kindergarten and on the pathway to college and life-long
success. .
Five Hundred Under 5
Five Hundred Under 5 (FHu5) was a collaborative,
multidimensional effort focused on two residential areas in
North Minneapolis that has been transitioned into the
Northside Achievement Zone (NAZ).
Get It, Got It, Go!
Get It, Got It, Go! provides informational materials,
assessments, and database-driven systems to help educators,
parents, and others select measurement tools (Individual
Growth and Development Indicators) to monitor children's
development, download assessment materials, manage data
obtained, and generate graphical reports.
Northside
Achievement Zone (NAZ) Internal Evaluation
As part of its work, NAZ is committed to building
and implementing comprehensive and coordinated evaluation
systems that inform, document, and drive the continuous
improvement of individual components and the overall
initiative. CEED is a partner and leader in this effort.
