Tips for planning your program

  • EDHD 5007 is offered for elementary students only in spring and summer (both May and summer session). Try to take this course as early as possible; it can be tricky to schedule.
  • The intro block (CI 3211, 3212, and EDHD 5001/EPsy 3119) must be taken as a block during your first semester in the major.
  • The special education block (EPsy 5613, EPsy 5616, and CI 3283) must be taken one year after the intro block. Any exceptions to this schedule must be approved by Rebecca Dosch Brown in Student Services. You must take all three courses concurrently, and you must register for the sections designation for Elementary Education Foundations students.
  • You should take CI 3401W and your linguistics class prior to taking the Reading Block (CI 5413 and 4413).
  • Try to leave some electives for your last semester to avoid scheduling conflicts. In general, your best resource for probable class times and dates is the schedule from previous years, as courses are often taught at the same times each spring and fall.
