Introduction to the EdPA GC Archives Project
Jeanne L. Higbee
Senior Faculty Advisor for Research
Education Administration and Policy (EdPA) 5727: Developmental Education Programs and Postsecondary Students is one of the courses offered as part of the University of Minnesota’s graduate-level Certificate in Postsecondary Developmental Education. Each week the students in the course present an oral report on a topic of interest to them related to that week’s theme (e.g., history of developmental education, theoretical perspectives, student populations, research studies, current issues in developmental education, etc.).
For one project this fall students were assigned the task of using materials from the General College (GC) Archives to research the history of a program or service provided within GC. The following articles are the outcome of that assignment.
The EdPA 5727 students and I would like to thank Mary K. St. John for her assistance and guidance in this project. She opened up the archives to us in the evening for our convenience, gave us a full tour, and then assisted students in locating materials to match their personal interests.
