Graduation and Commencement
M.Ed. (Master of Education) Degree Completion
Students are required to:
- Complete their degree within seven years, beginning with the first coursework used in the program.
- Maintain a 2.80 overall GPA and receive at least a C- in all classes towards the degree.
Final degree clearance depends on completion of all degree requirements, including the posting of final grades to the student’s transcript. As you prepare to graduate, fill out the degree completion packet for your program.
Student Services clears degrees for graduation on a monthly basis. Refer to the summer 2012 timeline for deadlines.
It is important to check with your employer or school district human resources office for critical deadlines that determine a pay increase or lane change. It is the student’s responsibility to coordinate employer deadlines with the graduation timeline published on this site. The University of Minnesota College of Education and Human Development does not maintain information on these professional deadlines.
Once the degree is noted on the University transcript, the student has technically graduated. The college holds one commencement ceremony each year in May to recognize all students in the college who have graduated within that academic year.
