M.A. program

What are the admissions requirements?

All components of the individual application records are considered in the admissions process and decisions. Reviewers look for evidence that students can take advantage of the programs academically and have career goals that match the program.

Preferred performance levels:

• 3.0 or above undergraduate grade point average
• 3.5 or above graduate grade point average
• 500 Verbal, 500 Quantitative and 4.5 Analytical Writing GRE scores (all students)
• 550 TOEFL/6.5 IELTS scores (international students)

What do I need to apply?

• A University of Minnesota Graduate School application
• A Department of Educational Policy and Administration application form [.pdf] (includes three brief essays)
• Scores from the GRE taken within the last 2-3 years
• Scores from TOEFL/IELTS, if applicable
• Undergraduate and graduate transcripts: see requirements for submission at:

• Current resume or curriculum vitae
• Two completed reference forms (in application)

Preferred performance levels:

• 3.0 or above undergraduate grade point average
• 3.5 or above graduate grade point average
• 500 Verbal, 500 Quantitative and 4.5 Analytical Writing Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores (all students)

• 550 on Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or 6.5 on International English Language Testing System (IELTS) for international students
