New
Department:
Organizational
Leadership, Policy,
and Development
Effective July 1, 2009, a
new department has been created
that integrates the business and
marketing education, human
resource development and adult
education, and comprehensive
WHRE programs from the
Department of
Work and Human Resource
Education (WHRE) into the
department formerly known as
Educational Policy and
Administration (EdPA). The
name of this new department is
Organizational Leadership,
Policy, and Development (OLPD).
It will offer exciting
opportunities for collaboration
and interdisciplinary education
and research. Click

Travel Grant Application
The Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development will be
making funds available to assist graduate students currently enrolled in an EdPA
or WHRE M.Ed., M.A., Ed.D., or Ph.D. program to present a refereed paper at an
academic conference or professional meeting. The paper can be sole or joint
authored, but must be accepted for presentation.
Policy on Graduate Student Travel Grants
Full-time students must be currently enrolled and in good
standing in EdPA and WHRE for qualifying professional travel
as long as the allocated funds are available. Currently the
funding limit is $400 each fiscal year (July 1-June 30) to
be apportioned among one or more trips. If co-authors are
presenting, the maximum travel award will be divided equally
among them. In no case will a travel award exceed $400 for a
single presentation. Priority will be given to
research papers and to presentations delivered at national
or international conferences. [ Please note: Poster
sessions and roundtables are not eligible
for travel awards.]
Applications must be submitted to the department
chair at least 45 days in advance of planned travel.
The Department expects recipients to share the knowledge
and experience from their participation in conferences or
professional meetings. The Department hopes that through the
granting of these awards an increasing number of graduate
students will take advantage of opportunities to engage in
research and scholarship activities. Upon completion of the
travel, grantees must submit a one-three page written report
describing the paper presented (abstract, summary etc.) and
a brief overview of their experiences and learning from the
conference. These reports will be posted in the graduate
programs section of the Department’s website. Conference
registration or travel expenses will be reimbursed upon
return, and after receipt of report.
