New Department:
Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development

Effective July 1, 2009, a new department has been created that integrates the business and marketing education, human resource development and adult education, and comprehensive WHRE programs from the Department of Work and Human Resource Education (WHRE) into the department formerly known as Educational Policy and Administration (EdPA). The name of this new department is Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development (OLPD). It will offer exciting opportunities for collaboration and interdisciplinary education and research. Click here for details.

 

Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP)

The EPFP program is in the process of being reviewed. New information will be posted during Spring Semester 2010.

Program Overview

The Minnesota EPFP program is comprised of the following events:

  • Orientation
  • Dinner seminars held twice each month
  • Policy breakfasts (2) sponsored by the College of Education and Human Development
  • Two national meetings related to leadership and national policy issues sponsored by the Institute for Education Leadership (IEL)
  • Day at the Minnesota State Capitol

These experiences are designed to help EPFP fellows understand the education and human services policy process in Minnesota and nationally, to identify important current and future policy issues, and to enhance the leadership and policy decision making skills of each participant. Program presenters include elected officials and staff, agency heads, academics, representatives of advocacy groups and other human services organizations.

Past participants have included:

  • PK-12 superintendents, principals, deans, program directors, managers and curriculum consultants (See alumni listed below.)
  • Higher education leadership and senior level administrative staff
  • Higher education faculty
  • State of Minnesota legislative staff
  • Minnesota Department of Human Service directors
  • Attorneys
  • Research associates
  • Education consultants
  • Higher education doctoral students

Continuing professional education clock hours (CEUs) will be awarded for EPFP completion.

The Minnesota EPFP site is affiliated with the Department of Educational Policy and Administration, College of Education and Human Development, University of Minnesota.
