Certificate in PK-12 administration

September 2003 the University’s Board of Regents authorized the establishment of the certificate in PK-12 administration. This twenty-credit program focuses specifically on the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the administration of schools and school districts. It is appropriate for individuals interested in learning more about educational administration in PK-12 schools with a goal of pursuing a license as a school superintendent, K-12 principal, director of community education, or director of special education and is also suitable for those desiring to gain competence in these areas without licensure.

Students already enrolled in the University’s non-certificate licensure program may change to this option by simply completing the application that is located on the Licensure Program website www.cehd.umn.edu/edpa/licensure. Tuition and program fee remain the same and an additional writing sample is not necessary. Additional information is available on our Web site or contact Ann Werner 612-626-8647 (werne023@umn.edu).

The current non-certificate program option remains

The individualized non-certificate program continues to be an option for those who have already been licensed in another state and are seeking licensure in Minnesota or those who have multiple previous credits or experiences, pertinent to educational administration, at the time of enrolling.
