Ezra Golberstein is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Health Policy and Management in the School of Public Health.   His research interests include health economics, mental health services and policy, non-medical determinants of health, health and human capital, and health care financing and costs.  Dr Golberstein and colleagues have used data from the National Health Interview Survey to link state and labor market-level unemployment rates to measures of child mental health. They find that when unemployment rates rise, children’s mental health deteriorates. They also see some evidence that the use of early intervention services and special education services rises when unemployment rates rise.
