The Active Aging Colloquium Series is an initiative from the proposed Center for Research on Active Aging (CRAA). CRAA is an initiative proposed by the School of Kinesiology in collaboration with the School of Social Work, the Department of Family Social Science, and the Department of Educational Psychology in the College of Education and Human Development (CEHD).

Dr. Thompson is a professor in and past director of the Program in Physical Therapy at the University of Minnesota, where she has taught for 20 years and helped launch the state’s first doctoral PT program. She is also immediate past president of the American Aging Association and is active with the Gerontological Society of America and National Institute of Aging. 

Her research program was one of the first in the world to characterize those cellular changes, and she continues to work to improve the health and mobility of older adults through her research and leadership in the field.
