CEHD Reads: A Conversation with Anthony Ray Hinton Tuesday, October 25, 2016

Anthony Ray Hinton was exonerated from death row in 2015 after serving more than 30 years in an Alabama prison. He will speak on the topics of his lived experiences on death row and the need for justice system reforms.

 

Hinton's release was the result of work by the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI), an organization that provides legal representation to marginalized populations who have been denied fair legal treatment. EJI's work is highlighted in the memoir Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson, the common book selection that all first-year students in CEHD will read in fall 2016 and fall 2017.

 

Stevenson will speak on campus in fall 2017.
