Disability policy and services
This field of study is designed for both graduate and
undergraduate students as well as practicing professionals who are
interested in policies and services related to people with
disabilities.
The program offers a broad understanding of the disability
services system from an interdisciplinary perspective, exploring
contemporary theories and practices of serving people with
disabilities. Classes address the needs of people with all types of
disabilities but emphasize developmental disabilities.
Program highlights

learning experience: The program’s individualized
learning experience (ILE) allows students to complete a
disability-related research project or work directly with people
with disabilities.
- Interdisciplinary
study:
The certificate was developed and is offered through a
collaborative effort of the college's
Department
of Educational Policy and Administration and Institute
on Community Integration (ICI).
- Professional development:
The program’s length (only 12 credits of required coursework) makes
it an ideal professional development opportunity for social service
agency staff, school personnel, community educators, and
others in related fields.
