Educational
administration
Future and current educational leaders are attracted to
educational administration. Teachers, school and district
administrators and staff, faculty from higher education,
researchers, and those in positions with educational
organizations pursue graduate degrees in this field. Their
degrees can lead to careers as educational administrators in K-12
or higher education, as teachers and researchers at institutions
of higher education, or as analysts in educational policy
development. Areas of emphasis include school administration,
general administration, education policy, education finance and
budgeting, and personnel administration.
The various degree
programs are competitive, with only 20 admitted each year for the
M.A. and 10 for the Ph.D. The Ed.D., especially suited for
teachers, principals, and superintendents who intend to remain
fully employed while pursuing an advanced degree, is a cohort
program limited to small groups in various locations within the
state and internationally. Application
procedures and tuition
and fees correspond to those of the
Graduate
School. In addition, the college offers
graduate coursework leading to a state license in school
administration.
